Anthony is an instructional multimedia designer specializing in motion graphics, video, and graphics at Cisco Systems for ten years. For the last seven years, he has performed his official role as a content developer and multimedia designer for the Cisco Umbrella security product.

With deep-rooted experience in technology, he loves to use this knowledge to help others find a solution. Pairing this with his passion for design and motion graphics, he can create material that can effectively communicate and teach others what they want (or need) to know.

Designing basic overviews, or even explainer videos, is no easy task, and Anthony is up to the challenge! He believes that the quality of the material makes it easier to learn, follow, and retain knowledge.

Researching trends, design concepts and standards, new applications developments, and technologies, he is always interested in what’s out there and willing to learn more.

What was the spark that got him into multimedia design? It started when he saw a movie in the late 80’s called The Abyss. The scene is where the alien probe tries to communicate with the people inside the submersible with its ability to shape water. At this scene, he discovered computer animation and had always been fascinated with the artwork and techniques of how movies use CGI.

But what about the technology side of things? In the late 1990s, he broke his parent’s computer that ran their small business. He was curious about what the inside of the computer was and opened the chassis, only to discover that it wasn’t made up of moving or spinning components, just simple wires and a green board with silver-tipped pieces. He felt around the components, re-assembled the PC, and discovered that the computer wouldn’t turn on. Yikes!

A month later, he tried to figure out what was causing the problem. Eventually, after calling around computer repair shops and multiple visits to the library, he was able to reload the operating system and gain access back into their small business. At that point, Anthony was more confident than ever that he could fix computing devices. As the internet started to make its way into homes via AOL and Yahoo, he began researching and learning everything he could about computers.

Anthony’s journey continues to build upon his passion for animation, and design. He believes an expert is still willing to learn; there’s no time to have a chip on their shoulder. We must feel inspired by each other. We all come from different walks of life and experiences and adapt ourselves to grow in our passions further.
